AEA Ribbon Microphones: Factory Tour
We recently visited the Pasadena, CA headquarters of AEA, makers of classic ribbon microphones and ribbon microphone preamps. AEA is known for a number of different ribbon microphones including the R44C, R44CE, A440 and R84A. AEA's General Manager Sammy Rothman took us on a tour of their factory to get up close and personal with their microphone manufacturing process. Sammy provided a general overview of the historic RCA ribbon microphones that initially inspired AEA's product line, and the exacting attention to detail that informs the part sourcing and manufacturing of AEA's ribbon mics.
