We recently stopped by the Pasadena, CA headquarters of AEA, makers of classic ribbon microphones and microphone preamps. While there we got a tour from Sammy Rothman, general manager of AEA. In addition to going in-depth on their ribbon microphone line, covering such classics as the R84 and R44, Sammy gave us a full rundown on AEA's microphone preamp line. AEA's mic preamp line includes the dual RPQ2, the RPQ500 (made for the 500-series format) and the TRP2, two-channel ribbon preamp.
