Introducing the UT Tube67

Silky-smooth tube sound. Legendary character. Modern precision.

The UT Tube67 is United Studio Technologies’ faithful homage to one of the most revered large-diaphragm tube condenser microphones in recording history. Inspired by the legendary 67-style German tube microphones that defined countless classic recordings since the 1960s, the UT Tube67 delivers the velvety, creamy, full-bodied tone that engineers and artists continue to seek today.

At the heart of the UT Tube67 is a 1960s NOS EF86 pentode vacuum tube, responsible for its smooth top end and warm, intimate vocal sound. This classic tube character makes vocals feel present and natural, while the microphone’s linear response across multiple polar patterns ensures exceptional versatility. From strings, woodwinds, and brass to piano, drums, and both acoustic and electric guitars, the UT Tube67 excels in virtually any recording scenario.

Crafted with uncompromising attention to detail

United has elevated this classic design through meticulous component-level engineering. The microphone features a custom United UT K67 capsule, built as a historically correct dual diaphragm/dual backplate design. Skinned in a laboratory clean-room environment and 24k gold-sputtered on 6-micron Mylar, the capsule is optimized for the Tube67’s operating voltage and carefully tuned to vintage specifications. The result is a smooth, natural sound without the harsh resonances common in many modern reproductions.

The capsule design is based on a rare 1970s specimen that United identified as the best-sounding example they had ever encountered, offering a more natural low to low-mid frequency response than other versions.

Classic transformers, modern reliability

The UT Tube67 is equipped with a custom-wound, American-made UT-BV12 transformer, built to United’s exact specifications using historically accurate laminations. High-nickel alloy laminations and a copper Faraday shield ensure tight, authoritative bass response while minimizing noise and radio frequency interference. United refused to cut corners, choosing performance and longevity over cost savings.

A switchable Air modification, favored by many classic recordists, adds extra flexibility for modern production needs.

More than a microphone

Every detail of the UT Tube67 reflects United’s commitment to boutique-quality craftsmanship—from the custom Sommer Octave 7-pin cable and regulated power supply to final assembly and testing in the USA. This is not just another tube microphone; it’s a personal tribute to a classic design, built to honor its legacy while meeting the demands of today’s studios.
